Not entirely sure what's going on in this story. Although, I think that's somewhat the idea; to not serve everything to the reader on a silver platter. After all, this chapter's title is "Secret" (again, not entirely sure why we didn't translate that orz).
An orphan child of a guy's mom's friend starts living with said guy and his mom. All's pretty fine and dandy, but there seems to be more to the story than is being told.
