However, during the last couple months, I've been given the chance to be involved in something very exciting, and today we're finally able to make it public. Rather than me repeating what has already been said, I suggest you head over to FAKKU and read the announcement there:
I'll be working very closely with the FAKKU crew on this project; I'll be involved in most of the major decisions concerning the releases. Of course, my main role will be as a translator, and all of the three so-far announced books will be translated by me.
What does this mean for the future of this blog and my work here? For starters, I'd like to finish my current projects (books and other series). Melody has already been completely translated by other groups, so I will be dropping that book after the next chapter (5), but other than that, I intend to finish the remaining book projects.
Of course, it'll be hard to keep up my one-release-ever-2-3-days release pace; if I spend all day translating, I probably wanna do something else in my spare time. I can't say how long it'll take, but I want to finish what I've started.
Once that is done, I'll probably focus on doujins, and do one whenever I get the chance. For now, all I can say is that I want to continue to work on Digital Lover's D.L. action series--I can easily handle one doujin every other month.
If you're familiar with what I do, you probably know that two other artists that lie close to my heart are Dr.P and Drill Jill. A new Dr.P book and the conclusion to the Sperm-star series are probably the only times when I'll go back to working on a book again.
Actually, there will be a Reddit AMA later on this week, so it's probably better if you save your questions for that--unless they're about this blog.

ReplyDeleteWhat does this mean when it comes to copyrights? Looking through the list of artists at the link, one in particular stood out: LINDA.
ReplyDeleteA name that's gotten downright infamous for attacking websites, scanners and translators.
The reason I bring this up is the fact that others have done quite a few on that list (one artist's name stands out for having just about everything that's been published translated).
A few translators have chose to disappear completely due to DCMAs, I hope this doesn't encourage more to do so.
hopefully Fakku won't become the new Soba. Sending out DCMA's to their own contributors, then selling their work.

Meh, afaik, wani magazine is another big name sending out DMCA take down notes, and what fakku chose to release is right under their radder.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, this is super exciting. Congrats to Fakku, as far as I'm concerned Wani has the best stable of artists, and seeing them legitimately available in English is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteMy question is, is this going to affect doujinshi translation? I'm curious if sites hosted under the Fakku umbrella will be able to go about business as usual, since it just seems a little odd to have the main site 'going straight' while still hosting those doing free translation.

Some ISP in Costa Rica accept DMCA notice and take action and take down the website, If fakku worry about that things they can move their hosting to Sweden hosting. I wont recommend Netherlands because there is some lawyers in that area can take down the website.

ReplyDeleteThe biggest difference will be that I won't work on books. These other things that come out with a few months between releases (Yamatogawa, Foxy Rena doujins, etc.) shouldn't be effected. If anything, it might take a bit longer for me to get to them.
ReplyDeleteFakku will fuck up the whole scene if they start cease and desist for all those artists. Don't see why people are happy because they'll need to pay tons of money, surely removing black bars aren't worth paying thousands of dollars?
ReplyDeleteMight your stated intention to concentrate of doujins if and when FAKKU Books truly gets under-way mean that you might take either requests or commissions (if you don't do so already)?
ReplyDeleteUp until now, I've mainly done what I wanna do, while still listening to recommendations, and I will most likely continue to do that.
